Heirloom Narcissus

Narcissus | fall bulb | early spring bloomer

Narcissus ‘Sweet Paradise’ blooming in March. Photo by Allie Case.

Narcissus are some of the first flowers to bloom in spring, bringing so much cheer to an otherwise sleepy garden. Of the five types that I trialed in 2022, these two were my favorite. ‘Sweet Paradise’ had the softest peach ruffles, and ‘Cheerfulness’ added the perfect tiny soft touches to arrangements. Both had fantastic vases lives and I got feedback from my florists that they also worked well in bouquets out of water.

The wonderful thing about narcissus (commonly called daffodils, but we like to call em ‘fancy daffs’) is that when left in the ground, they multiply! I’m excited to see which of my varieties come back strong this spring, and have been eagerly waiting for their green tips to emerge from the soil.
