Week 3 Field Notes

Pearl Acacia has buds!

This week included a lot of admin work. We’re interviewing new growers for the San Joaquin Flower Collective (our wholesale outlet for local florists), getting our taxes in order, and planning some really awesome workshops. I can’t wait for spring, but know that it’ll be here before we know it!

We also gave all of our roses a good prune. In California Zone 9b, this is the perfect time to cut back your roses. They aren’t a focus crop for us, but I love having roses to design with personally so keep about 65 plants in my collection.

See below for some other fun things we found in the garden this week:

the petunias just keep blooming, they don’t seem to know it’s winter!

our first Icelandic Poppy bud!

rose pruning in California Zone 9b. I cut my plants back by about a third.
